Frequently Asked Questions
Can you do laser hair removal anywhere on the body?
We can do laser hair removal just about anywhere on the body. The most common areas for women are the upper lip, chin, eyebrows and bikini line. Men like to do hair removal at the back and shoulders, front of the neck (common place for ingrown hairs) as well as the glabella (space between the eyebrows). We do arms, legs, toes, underarms and more!
Is laser hair removal really permanent?
Yes, it is permanent in most people after a series of 6-8 treatments. The majority of clients will see significant reduction of hair as well as finer and thinner hairs after a series of treatments. It depends on the goal of hair removal. If you just want a reduction in the number and coarseness of the hair, two to four treatments may be all you desire. If you want significant clearance of hair it will take the typical 6-8 treatments.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
You won't fall asleep in the treatment chair but you will not be in pain. The lasers we use have built in cool stream of air that cools the skin immediately before the laser fires. We can make the treatment effective yet comfortable by adjusting the amount of energy delivered. The sensation is often described as a "hot pinch" or "snapping" feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second, and you may feel a warmth or tingling sensation for a short time afterwards.
Why should I come to OFRA Spa?
Besides the convenience of our South Florida location, we are licensed and certified, working in an elegant, clean and professional spa offering fair competitive prices for treatments with the latest Sonata Laser equipment.
How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
Most clients require about 8 treatments for significant clearance of hair. Fewer treatments are needed if your goal is to reduce the number of hairs as well as the coarseness of the remaining hair. The treatments are usually performed every 6 weeks.
Why does it take more than one treatment?
Hair grows in cycles. The laser only disables the hair in the active stage of growth at the time of treatment. It does, however, affect the hairs in the early and late stages. The hairs that return are those that were not in the active stage of growth at the time of treatment. They appear lighter in color and finer in texture. The Sonata uses gentle light to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a permanent reduction in the amount of hair in the area. We do see some results after just one treatment, but additional treatments are needed to have significant clearance of hair. Laser Therapy leaves your skin looking and feeling smoother and softer.
What other methods of permanent hair removal are available?
Electrology is a proven permanent method for hair removal. It is a hair-by-hair treatment that requires a needle to be inserted into the hair follicle. The needle emits both heat and electricity to disable the hair. Electrology requires regular treatments (at least every three weeks) for several years. With the laser, we can treat a much larger area (up to the size of a quarter) in a much shorter time period (6-8 months) without the discomfort of a needle.
Why do you recommend laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is fast, convenient, and has minimal side effects. It can save you up to 10 minutes a day just by skipping the full leg shave. Think of the money you have spent on razors, shaving creams, bleaching creams and eyebrow waxes. We offer solutions to expensive as well as time-consuming hair grooming.
